Anti-Aging Treatments that Doctors Actually Use

Clicking the picture below will take you to a Reader's Digest article that has some of my thoughts in there. Here are some other anti-aging strategies that could probably benefit anyone.

Remove excess body fat.

  • We know that being overweight or obese leads to illness. Therefore, I would rather someone focus on being lean no matter what they eat. If eating “a lot” of sugar allows someone to lose 50 pounds, he or she will likely be much healthier than someone who avoids sugar but carries a significant amount of body fat.

Sleep!

  • Poor sleep also ages people rapidly. Making sure you get as much sleep as your lifestyle will allow will help you stay “young” longer. If you have insomnia, it needs to be treated. There are many effective supplements and medications which can be used if needed. For most of them, the risks pale in comparison to the risks of chronic sleep deprivation. Common supplements used for sleep are melatonin, 5-HTP and GABA.

Don’t get diabetes. (Or manage it aggressively if you have it.)

  • Type II diabetes is influenced mainly by genes and body fat. You can’t change your genes, but you can get lean! Supplements like Gymnema Sylvestre and apple cider vinegar can be helpful in regulating blood sugar.
